ePacks
It is not compulsory for RYA Training Centres to offer ePacks to students but, if they do, students can choose to receive an eBook to accompany their course rather than a printed book
About Our ePacks
Enhanced eBooks
eBooks are enhanced digital versions of our printed books containing animations, video and interactive tools to help illustrate the key points and skills. As such, these eBooks are a great resource supporting our training courses. Visit our RYA eBooks: How to Guide for more information and examples of enhanced content, features and functionality.
Please note that when offering both ePacks and the printed version of a book, it must be the student's choice which version they receive as ePacks/eBooks will not be suitable for everyone.
Recognised Training Centres should require students to download the RYA Books app and download a Taster eBook first to ensure device compatibility.
Contents of an ePack
All other items in the pack (i.e. application form, certificates etc.) remain the same, but in place of the printed book is an eBook.
Accessing eBooks
eBooks can be viewed using a tablet, smartphone or computer with the free RYA Books app installed. Visit the RYA eBooks: How to Guide for more information on devices currently supported.

How to Assign eBooks to a student
The process of assigning an eBook to a student has changed. RYA Recognised Training Centres can now assign ePacks to students using the RYA Trade Shop.
Please note: this replaces printed ePack vouchers.
Once you’ve assigned an ePack to a student in the RYA Trade Shop, they’ll receive an email to notify them which eBook they've been assigned, and which ePack it belongs to. The email will include links to RYA eBooks: How to Guide, which explains how to access their eBook. They will also receive a separate email with a password to access their eBook, unless they have an existing RYA Books account and therefore an existing password.

ePack printed voucher replacements
For any existing unused printed eBook vouchers (as part of an ePack) please submit your codes and begin using the new ePack assignment system in the RYA Trade Shop. Please use the Contact Us form to do this. You can type the voucher codes in the comment box, attach word or excel files - whatever is most convenient for you.
The next steps are:
1. Our eBook support team check and verify every submitted code
2. We will raise a "Voucher Replacement" order for the corresponding number of (unredeemed) codes. For example - if you bought 10 x E-PBPP and then submit 5 x VE-G48 codes as part of that pack to be replaced then an order will be raised for 5 x the "Voucher Replacement" item of that pack (i.e. FE-PBPP in this case) free of charge. The voucher replacement items only contain the eBook and not the certificate - we are only replacing the voucher part of the pack.
3. You will be emailed a sales invoice for the “Voucher Replacement” order (to the email address on your account), and you’ll receive an email from our support team to confirm that your voucher replacement request has been actioned (to the email address you supplied on the Contact Us form). You can view your sales order in the “My invoices/completed orders” area of your account, along with any other orders you’ve placed.
4. You can then assign eBooks to your students. Please note: any "Voucher Replacement" entries will be listed under the relevant voucher replacement ePack.
Communication about ePacks
Advertising material regarding ePacks must include:
· A clear option for the student to choose either an ePack or printed pack.
· A link to RYA eBooks: How to Guide.
· A requirement to download the RYA Books app and a Taster eBook first to ensure device compatibility.
Returns and replacements
· In accordance with our terms and conditions and by their nature, ePacks cannot be returned for credit unless faulty. See our Terms & Conditions.
· Please contact ebooks@rya.org.uk if you have assigned a student an ePack in error, or you’ve made a mistake when typing a name or email address.
Support
We expect RYA Training Centres who wish to offer ePacks to become familiar with the process and offer first line support to students, not only to make sure that an ePack is suitable (i.e. have a compatible device) but also to help them download the RYA Books app and access the content.
When advertising course materials, if you offer ePacks there must be a clear option for the student to choose either the ePack or printed version.
RTCs offering ePacks must be familiar with how the RYA Books app works, including the login process, and be able to provide general support. RTCs must offer the first line of support to their students and be able to guide them through process of downloading eBooks, logging into the app, and other basic questions.
Once the student has confirmed they have a compatible device by downloading the RYA Books app and relevant eBook Taster, you can assign the student an ePack in the RYA Trade Shop.

The RYA ePack support team can help with technical issues, but more basic queries from students that are covered in the RYA eBook support pages will be referred back to the RTC.
For questions not answered here, please email ebooks@rya.org.uk including full details of the nature of the problem. Please note, ePack queries should be raised by the training centre so please don't ask your students to contact us directly.
