Canal boating
Experience the charm of canal boating, as you cruise across tranquil waters and picturesque scenery
What is canal boating?
In the past, our canals and inland waterways were vital in providing connections for trade and travel between towns and cities.
Today the pace is much slower, with modern canal boating offering a home to liveaboard boaters and a sanctuary for holidaymakers exploring the country. While narrowboats are popular option for cruising the inland waterways, a surprising variety of boats can be found navigating your local canals and rivers.
Get started
Getting out on the water isn’t limited to those living by the coast. There are so many beautiful canals and rivers across the country just waiting to be explored.
Inland boats typically range from small cruisers to narrowboats and barges, making them a great option for beginners due to their slow and sturdy manoeuvrability.
However, you choose to take to the water, knowing how to handle your boat properly and navigate locks will give you the confidence you need to travel safely.
