Course description

This practical course is a great way to get a feel for sailing and will teach you the fundamentals of how to steer a yacht under power, raise the sails, and handle ropes. This 2-day course assumes no previous experience, so it’s open to anyone over 16 years old or younger if accompanied by an adult.

RYA Start Yachting will introduce you to the joys of sailing a cruising yacht. You'll live onboard with your fellow sailors and really get to know the boat both above deck and down below. By the end of the 2-day course you'll have experienced steering a yacht, sail handling, ropework and be aware of safety on board.

Those who complete this RYA Start Yachting certificate can go on to the Competent Crew course and potentially complete it in a reduced time of 3 days or 2 weekends.
